PDF info
What is a PDF?
It's an abbreviation for Portable Document Format.
It's a type of document, which can be read by most home computers, by having a PDF reader (like Adobe Reader, or Mac Preview for OSX).
Where can I get a PDF reader?
You've probably got one on your computer already.
If you haven't, then you can get a free one by visiting:
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
On a PC or a Mac, it will install itself easily - usually by downloading a small program/application first. The small program/application then downloads the main installer, which completes the installation.
Why isn't the book just sent in Microsoft Word format?
Because the quality of the images and the layout of the information is held in the correct format of the book you order.
Also, there are far fewer risks of a corrupted file with a PDF.
Can I give a copy of the PDF itinerary to a friend?
The information within this website and within each itinerary is the Copyright © of Butterworth Investments Limited. All rights are reserved. The information may only be used personally by you. You may not copy it, or give permission to or allow anyone else to copy it. You may not sell, resell or exploit any of the information for commercial purposes.
Being realistic, itforit realises that people may wish to let a friend see a copy of an itinerary. If you do, then you should consider the PDF version in the same way as you would a hard copy, printed book - if the friend just wishes to take a look, that's fine. However, if it is used for the published purpose of following an itinerary, then he/she should buy a copy.
How do I download a PDF itinerary?
Once you have purchased your itinerary through the secure checkout (with NetBanx), you will receive a confirmation email, with the price and your NetBanx reference number.
The download procedure will be shown after your card has been processed.
If you wish to download at a later time (or have more download attempts), you should visit www.itforit.com, and then click on 'shop'. Once you are in the 'shop', click on 'My Account' in the upper right corner, and sign in with your email address and password. Then click on 'view' to see your order, and you will find your Order Information, with a Download Link for your itinerary.
How many downloads can I have, and over what timescale?
The system is set to allow you up to five download attempts of a purchased PDF, over a period of seven days from the time of purchase.
Most downloads are achieved on the first attempt, but if you have not achieved your download within the above limits, then you should contact: sales@itforit.com
What happens once I have downloaded my PDF itinerary?
It will depend on how your computer is set up, but this is what generally happens:
On a PC, a PDF reader (e.g. Adobe Reader) will automatically open a new window, and the PDF itinerary will be displayed.
On a Mac, it will probably be downloaded to your desktop. You can then view it with a PDF reader (e.g. Adobe Reader, or Preview for OSX), by double-clicking on it, and your preferred reader will automatically open.
How do I save a PDF itinerary?
On a PC, you will need to click on the save icon in the viewer, which is usually in the upper left corner, and then choose where you want to save it.
On a Mac, in Adobe Reader, the procedure is the same as for a PC.
On a Mac, in Preview, go the 'file' dropdown menu, and choose 'Save As'. Finally, choose where you want to save it.
How do I print my PDF itinerary?
In all known PDF readers, there is a print icon.
Do you have any tips about printing?
A few, but it is generally the same as for printing any document.
1. The quality of the printed version will depend on many factors - the type and quality of ink, the type and quality of paper, and the quality of the printer itself.
2. The photographs have been set to a density of colour that will be about correct on ordinary printer/laser paper.
3. If any characters do not print/display properly, ensure you have the latest version of the PDF reader. itforit is not aware of any problems with PDF itineraries with the latest versions of Adobe Reader and Preview for Mac OSX.
4. Some computer/printer combinations may print better if smaller batches of pages are printed at a time, rather than the entire itinerary.
What size paper should I use to print the PDF itinerary?
The PDF was created as A4 paper size - so just use A4 for most countries in the world.
For paper sizes in the USA, use 'US Letter' size, which is very close to A4 size. This will normally be automatically selected by your printer.
(If you need to alter the page size in Adobe Reader, go the 'file' dropdown menu, choose 'Page Setup'. Finally, choose 'Paper Size and select 'US Letter', then click 'OK'.)
Can I have an itinerary as a hard copy, printed book - and not as a PDF?
At the moment, itforit has moved over entirely to providing PDF downloaded itineraries, as there was clearly a demand for instant information.
If there is sufficient demand for hard copy, printed versions, then they may be available at a later time.
